     He fought in the Crimean War.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.)1 He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Hort, of Castle Strange, co. Middlesex [G.B., 1767] on 24 August 1876.1

     Sir William Fitzmaurice Josiah Hort, 4th Bt. was born on 20 January 1827.1 He was the son of Sir Josiah William Hort, 2nd Bt. and Louisa Georgiana Caldwell.2 He married, firstly, Harriett Lydia Stevenson, daughter of Reverend Charles Butler Stevenson, on 2 June 1866.1 He married, secondly, Katherine Anne Villiers Wade, daughter of John Wade, in 1874.1 He died on 18 September 1887 at age 60, without issue.1
     He was a practising barrister.1 He was Resident Magistrate, Ireland between 1854 and 1856.1 He succeeded as the 4th Baronet Hort, of Castle Strange, co. Middlesex [G.B., 1767] on 5 January 1882.1

     Harriett Lydia Stevenson was the daughter of Reverend Charles Butler Stevenson.2 She married Sir William Fitzmaurice Josiah Hort, 4th Bt., son of Sir Josiah William Hort, 2nd Bt. and Louisa Georgiana Caldwell, on 2 June 1866.1 She died on 28 June 1870.1
     From 2 June 1866, her married name became Hort.

     He was commissioned in 1857.1 He was Lieutenant-Colonel of the 3rd Battalion, Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for County Kildare.1 He succeeded as the 5th Baronet Hort, of Castle Strange, co. Middlesex [G.B., 1767] on 18 September 1887.1

     He held the office of High Sheriff of County Dublin in 1834.1 He lived at Leopardstown, County Dublin, Ireland.1 He lived at St. John's Mount, Breconshire, Wales.1
