     Major Augustus John Elliot was born on 5 August 1901. He is the son of Archibald Campbell Elliot and Harriet Newcome Lowis. He married, firstly, Theodora Dorothy Harvey on 15 September 1930. He and Theodora Dorothy Harvey were divorced in 1946. He married, secondly, Ilona Bindley, daughter of Frederick Charles Wilson Bindley, on 22 October 1946.
