     Robert Hunter married Eleanora Hunter, 24th of Hunterston, daughter of Robert Hunter, 23rd of Hunterston and Janet Aitcheson.1 He died on 22 August 1826.1
     He was given the name of Robert Caldwell at birth.1 In 1799 he built Hunterston House.1 He was recognised by Lord Lyon King of Arms, and matriculated his arms at the Lyons Court in 1810.1 In 1810 his name was legally changed to Robert Hunter.1

Robert Hunter, 25th of Hunterston1

     Robert Hunter, 25th of Hunterston was born on 1 October 1799.1 He was the son of Robert Hunter and Eleanora Hunter, 24th of Hunterston.2 He married Christian MacKnight Crawfurd, daughter of William MacKnight Crawfurd of Cartsburn, on 23 November 1836.1 He died on 14 March 1880 at age 80.1
     He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Ayrshire.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Ayrshire.1 In 1835 he extended Hunterston House.1
