Sir John Johnston of Caskieben, 4th Bt.1

     Sir John Johnston of Caskieben, 4th Bt. was the son of John Johnston and unknown daughter Johnston.2 He married Janet Mitchell, daughter of Thomas Mitchell of Thainston, in April 1683.1 He died in November 1724, without surviving male issue.1
     He succeeded as the 4th Baronet Johnston, of Caskieben [N.S., 1626] on 23 December 1690.1 He was a merchant at Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.1 He purchased Cordyce, one of the old family properties, and changed its name to Caskieben.1 He fought in the Battle of Sheriffmuir in 1715, as a Jacobite.1 He lived at Newplace, Scotland.1

     Janet Mitchell is the daughter of Thomas Mitchell of Thainston.2 She married Sir John Johnston of Caskieben, 4th Bt., son of John Johnston and unknown daughter Johnston, in April 1683.1
     From April 1683, her married name became Johnston.
