     William Leslie is the son of John Leslie, 5th of Wardis and Jane Crichton.2 He married Helen Gordon, daughter of George Gordon of Newton.1
     He was also known as 3rd Baronet Leslie [U.K. Life Peer].1 In 1800 though he neither assumed the title (which on his death became dormant till ) nor inherited the estates.1
