     Edward Vere Levinge was born on 24 May 1867.1 He was the son of Harry Corbyn Levinge and Ellen Hawes Barnes.2 He married Alys Adèle Thomas, daughter of Maj.-Gen. Charles Frederic Thomas, on 1 December 1900.1 He died on 24 January 1954 at age 86.1
      Sir.1 He graduated in 1888 with a Cheltenham and Balliol College Oxford Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) ).1 He was ICS, Ch Sec Government Bengal , MEC Bihar and Orissa 1912–17, Actg Lt-Govr 1918 in 1910.1 He was Companion, Order of the Star of India (C.S.I.) in 1911.1 He was Knight Commander, Order of the Indian Empire (K.C.I.E.) in 1916.1
