     Colonel Sir Charles Douglas Lowther, 6th Bt. was born on 22 January 1946.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. Sir William Guy Lowther, 5th Bt. and Grania Emerald Suzanne Campbell.2 He married, firstly, Melanie Pensée FitzHerbert Musgrave, daughter of Roderick Christopher Musgrave and Celia Skinner, on 14 February 1969.1 He and Melanie Pensée FitzHerbert Musgrave were divorced in 1975.1 He married, secondly, Florence Rose Cramsie, daughter of Lt.-Col. Alexander James Henry Cramsie and Gabrielle Patricia Hornby, in 1975.1 He died on 2 October 2018 at age 72.3
     He was educated at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, England.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1966 in the Queen's Royal Irish Hussars.1 He was Aide-de-Camp to CDS between 1974 and 1976.1 He succeeded as the 6th Baronet Lowther, of Swillington, co. York [U.K., 1824] on 7 May 1982.2 He was Colonel of the Queen's Royal Irish Hussars between 1986 and 1989.1 He was admitted to Gentlemen at Arms in 1997.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Clwyd between 1997 and 1998.1 He lived in 2003 at Erbistock Hall, Wrexham, WalesG.1

Sir William Guy Lowther, 5th Bt. and Grania Emerald Suzanne Campbell, on 14 February 1969.1 She and Colonel Sir Charles Douglas Lowther, 6th Bt. were divorced in 1975.1
