     Ellen Conolly was the daughter of Valentine Conolly.2 She married Francis Macnaghten, son of Sir Francis Workman-Macnaghten, 1st Bt. and Letitia Dunkin, on 6 January 1831.1 She died on 17 March 1893.1
     From 6 January 1831, her married name became Macnaghten.

Francis Macnaghten1

     Francis Macnaghten was the son of Francis Macnaghten and Ellen Conolly.2 He married Bessie Westoby, daughter of G. Westoby, on 8 October 1861.1 He died on 1 May 1879, without issue.1
     He was in the Bengal Civil Service.1

     Arthur William Macnaghten was born on 19 May 1835.1 He was the son of Francis Macnaghten and Ellen Conolly.2 He married Louisa Howard, daughter of Nelson Howard, on 12 October 1861.1 He died on 24 October 1919 at age 84.1
     He gained the rank of Colonel in the Bombay Cavalry.1

Maj.-Gen. Edward Hughes Hemming1

     Maj.-Gen. Edward Hughes Hemming was born on 13 May 1860.2 He was the son of G. W. Hemming.2 He married Blanche Alice Macnaghten, daughter of Arthur William Macnaghten and Louisa Howard, on 2 October 1889.1 He died on 20 April 1943 at age 82, killed in action.1
     He was educated at Clifton College, Clifton, Bristol, Gloucestershire, England.2 He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, Kent, England.2 He was commissioned in February 1880 with the rank of Lieutenant, in the service of the Royal Engineers.2 He was awarded the Fowke Medal in 1882.2 He fought in the Zhob Valley Expedition in 1884.2 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in dispatches twice.1 He gained the rank of Major-General in 1915 in the Royal Engineers.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1915.1
