     Niall Macneil, 1st of Barra is the son of unknown (?).1
      Between 1030 and 1047 he settled on the Isle of Barra in the Hebrides and is the traditional progenitor of the Clan Macneil in Scotland.1

     Niall 'Og' Macneil, 6th of Barra is the son of Niall Macneil, 5th of Barra.2
     He fought in the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314, where he is claimed to have fought with King Robert I.1 He was given extensive lands in North Kintyre by King Robert I.1

      Upon his father's death he received the Kintyre lands and is asserted to be ancestor of the Macneils of Taynish and Gigha, probably the oldest cadet brother of the Macneils of Barra.1
