     Admiral John Elliot was the son of Sir Gilbert Elliot of Minto, 2nd Bt. and Helen Steuart.¹ He died in 1809.¹
     He gained the rank of Admiral of the Red.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Cockermouth between 1766 and 1768.¹

     Rt. Hon. Hugh Elliot was born on 6 April 1752.¹ He was the son of Rt. Hon. Sir Gilbert Elliot of Minto, 3rd Bt. and Agnes Dalrymple-Murray-Kynynmound.¹ He married, firstly, Charlotte von Kraut, daughter of Friedrich von Kraut, in 1778.¹ He and Charlotte von Kraut were divorced in 1783.¹ He married, secondly, Margaret Jones after 1783.¹ He died on 10 December 1830 at age 78.¹
     He held the office of Governor of Madras.¹

     Margaret Jones married Rt. Hon. Hugh Elliot, son of Rt. Hon. Sir Gilbert Elliot of Minto, 3rd Bt. and Agnes Dalrymple-Murray-Kynynmound, after 1783.¹ She died on 2 March 1819.¹
     Her married name became Elliot.¹

     Charlotte von Kraut is the daughter of Friedrich von Kraut.¹ She married Rt. Hon. Hugh Elliot, son of Rt. Hon. Sir Gilbert Elliot of Minto, 3rd Bt. and Agnes Dalrymple-Murray-Kynynmound, in 1778.¹ She and Rt. Hon. Hugh Elliot were divorced in 1783.¹
     From 1778, her married name became Elliot.¹

     Isabella Elliot was the daughter of Rt. Hon. Hugh Elliot and Charlotte von Kraut.¹ She married George Payne in 1810.¹ She died in 1826.¹
     From 1810, her married name became Payne.¹

     Edward Francis Elliot was born in 1796.¹ He was the son of Rt. Hon. Hugh Elliot and Margaret Jones.¹ He married Isabella Hardie, daughter of Commander unknown Hardie.¹ He died on 11 June 1866.¹

     Isabella Hardie is the daughter of Commander unknown Hardie.¹ She married Edward Francis Elliot, son of Rt. Hon. Hugh Elliot and Margaret Jones.¹
     Her married name became Elliot.¹

     Commander unknown Hardie gained the rank of Commander in the Royal Navy.¹
