     Sir Patrick Dalmahoy Nairne was born on 15 August 1921.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. Charles Sylvester Nairne and Edith Dalmahoy Kemp.2 He married Penelope Chauncy Bridges, daughter of Lt.-Col. Robert Francis Bridges, in 1948.1 He died on 4 June 2013 at age 91.3
     He was educated at Radley College, Abingdon, Oxfordshire, England.1 He gained the rank of Captain between 1941 and 1945 in the Seaforth Highlanders.1 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1943.1 He graduated from University College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1947 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was Private Secretary to the First Lord of the Admiralty between 1958 and 1960.1 He was Private Secretary, Secretary of State Defence between 1965 and 1967.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1971.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) in 1975.1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society of Arts (F.R.S.A.) in 1978.1 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the Bath (G.C.B.) in 1981.1 He was Master in 1981 at St. Catherine's College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1982.1 He held the office of Chancellor of Essex University between 1983 and 1997.1 He lived in 2003 at Yew Tree, Chilson, Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, England.1
