[Bahamas]¹ He was President of Lake Shore Gold Mine Ontario.¹ He was created 1st Baronet Oakes, of Nassau, in the Bahama Islands [U.K.] on 27 July 1939.¹ He was appointed Fellow, Royal Geographical Society (F.R.G.S.)¹

     Jessie Oakes was born on 30 December 1877.¹ She was the daughter of William Pitt Oakes and Edith Nancy Lewis.² She married, firstly, George Jay Babson on 10 May 1900.¹ She married, secondly, Lincoln Paul Ellis, son of G. R. de Ellis y de Moncada, on 10 February 1925.¹ She died on 20 August 1959 at age 81.¹
     From 10 May 1900, her married name became Babson.¹ From 10 February 1925, her married name became Ellis.¹

     George Jay Babson married Jessie Oakes, daughter of William Pitt Oakes and Edith Nancy Lewis, on 10 May 1900.¹ He died on 13 June 1921.¹
