John O'Neill1

     John O'Neill was born on 18 October 1599.1 He was the son of Hugh O'Neill, 3rd Earl of Tyrone and Catherine Magennis.2 He died on 27 January 1640/41 at age 41 at Barcelona, Spain, without legitimate issue, from wounds received in an unsuccessful attack on Catalan insurgents the previous day.1
     He was styled as 5th Earl of Tyrone.1 He was also known as Shane O'Neill. He gained the rank of Colonel in the Irish Regiment of Tyrone in Spanish service first in Flanders then in Spain.1 He was awarded the Knight of Calatrava in 1632.1 He fought in the Battle of Fuenterrabia in 1638, against the French.1 He held the office of Major Domo of Madrid before May 1639.1 He held the office of member of the Spanish Supreme Council of War in 1640.1

Hugh O'Neill1

     Hugh O'Neill was born illegitimately circa 1631.1 He was the son of John O'Neill and Isabel O'Donell.2,1 He died before 27 October 1660, without issue.1
     He was legitimated by King Philip IV.1

Conn 'na Creige' O'Neill1

     Conn 'na Creige' O'Neill was born in 1601.1 She was the daughter of Hugh O'Neill, 3rd Earl of Tyrone and Catherine Magennis.2 She died in 1622, a prisoner Tower of London, unmarried.1
     Conn 'na Creige' O'Neill also went by the nick-name of Conn 'na Creige' (or in English, 'of the Rock').1 Circa 1608 he was accidentally left behind in the Flight of the Earls.1 She was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.1

Brian O'Neill1

     Brian O'Neill was born in 1604.1 He was the son of Hugh O'Neill, 3rd Earl of Tyrone and Catherine Magennis.2 He died on 16 August 1617 at Brussels, Belgium, murdered by an English agent.1

Sir Cormac McBaron O'Neill1

     Sir Cormac McBaron O'Neill was the son of Ferdoragh O'Neill, 1st Baron of Dungannon and Joan Maguire.2 He married Margaret O'Neill, daughter of Aedh O'Neill and Siobhan O'Donnell.2 He died in 1613, a prisoner in the Tower of London.1
     He was married several times and had illegitimate issue.1

Lt.-Gen. Conn O'Neill1

     Lt.-Gen. Conn O'Neill was the son of Sir Cormac McBaron O'Neill.2 He married a Flemish lady (?).1 He died, without male issue.1
     He was the last legitimate descendant of 1st Baron of Dungannon.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-General in 1640 in the Irish Army.1 He was styled as Earl of Tyrone on 27 October 1660.1
