Charlotte Mildred Massingberd

     Charlotte Mildred Massingberd was born in 1868 at Tisbury, Wiltshire, England.1 She was the daughter of Edmund Langton and Emily Caroline Langton Massingberd.1 She married Major Leonard Darwin, son of Charles Robert Darwin and Emma Wedgwood, in 1900 at Kensington, London, England.1 She died in 1940.2
     She was given the name of Charlotte Mildred Langton at birth.1 In 1887 her name was legally changed to Charlotte Mildred Massingberd by Royal Licence. From 1900, her married name became Darwin.1

     Richard Mansergh Martin was born on 22 March 1843 at Castle Jane, Cork, County Cork, Ireland.1 He was the son of Richard Martin and Catherine Mansergh.1 He married Leonarda Langford, daughter of John Crawford Langford and Margaret Euphemia Gibbon, on 3 October 1905 at Mariners' Church, Kingstown, County Dublin, Ireland.1

     Major Leonard Darwin was born on 15 January 1850 at Downe House, Downe, Kent, England.1 He was the son of Charles Robert Darwin and Emma Wedgwood.1 He married, firstly, Elizabeth Frances Fraser on 11 July 1882 at Kingston-on-Thames, Surrey, England.1 He married, secondly, Charlotte Mildred Massingberd, daughter of Edmund Langton and Emily Caroline Langton Massingberd, in 1900 at Kensington, London, England.1 He died on 26 March 1943 at age 93.1
     He was educated in 1868 at Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, Kent, England.2 He gained the rank of Major in the Royal Engineers.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Lichfield between 1892 and 1895.2 He wrote the book Bimetalism, published 1897.2 He was President of the Royal Geographical Society between 1908 and 1911.2 He was president of the Eugenics Education Society between 1911 and 1928.2 He wrote the book The Need For Eugenic Reform, published 1926.2 He wrote the book What Is Eugenics?2

     Elizabeth Frances Fraser was also reported to have been born circa 1847 at Ireland.1 She married Major Leonard Darwin, son of Charles Robert Darwin and Emma Wedgwood, on 11 July 1882 at Kingston-on-Thames, Surrey, England.1 She died in 1898.1
     From 11 July 1882, her married name became Darwin.1
