     Colonel Montague Clementi was born in 1839 at Bradford-on-Avon, Wiltshire, England.1 He was the son of Reverend John Smith and Ceceilia Susanna Clementi.1 He married Isabel Collard, daughter of Charles T. Collard, in 1873 at Marylebone, London, England.1 He died circa 5 February 1919 at Hillands, Tiverton, Devon, England.1
     He was commissioned in 1858 with the rank of officer, in the service of the Indian Army.1 He fought in the North-West Frontier in 1863.1 He fought in the Egyptian War in 1882.1 He held the office of Judge-Advocate-General [India].1 He retired from the military in 1888, with the rank of Colonel, late of the Bengal Staff Corps.1
