     Colonel Gerald Montagu Smith was born on 4 June 1881.1 He was the son of Reverend Orlando Spencer Smith and Theodosia England.2 He married Iris Mary Seymour, daughter of Richard Arthur Hamilton Seymour and Charlotte Elizabeth Baillie-Hamilton, on 16 July 1912.1 He died on 9 October 1951 at age 70.1
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was wounded three times and mentioned in despatches three times.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1917.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the Royal Artillery.1 He was Permanent President of the Selection Board for Officers, War Office.1

     James Seymour Lee was born on 20 November 1945.1 He was the son of Harry Illtyd Lee and Judith Smith.2 He married, firstly, Sally Hill-Brookes, daughter of Edwin Hector Gordon Hill-Brookes, in 1967.1 He and Sally Hill-Brookes were divorced.1 He married, secondly, Hannah Marion Teresa Lennon, daughter of Patrick Joseph Lennon, in 1978.1 He and Hannah Marion Teresa Lennon were divorced in 2002.3 He died on 31 July 2023 at age 77.4
     He was also known as James Lee.1 He was educated at Down House School, Northiam, Sussex, England.1 He was a film director.1 He lived in 2003 at 71 Sumner Place Mews, London, England.1
