     Major Walter Granville Stuart-Menteth was born on 24 April 1906.1 He was the son of Walter Erskine Stuart-Menteth and Violet Grace Lafone.2 He married, firstly, Marianne Marguerite Cuenod, daughter of Jules Cuenod, on 5 June 1937.1 He and Marianne Marguerite Cuenod were divorced in 1950.1 He married, secondly, Edith Pauline Wadsworth, daughter of James Harold Wadsworth, on 2 November 1957.1 He died on 25 November 1970 at age 64.1
     He was educated at Rugby School, Rugby, Warwickshire, England.1 He was educated at Hertford College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.1 He fought in the Second World War, where he was mentioned in dispatches.1 He gained the rank of Major in the Queen's Royal (West Surrey) Regiment.1
