     Sir William James Thomas, 1st Bt. was born on 10 March 1867.1 He was the son of Thomas James Thomas.2 He married Maud Mary Cooper, daughter of George Cooper, on 11 April 1917.1 He died on 3 January 1945 at age 77.1
     He was appointed Knight in 1914.1 He was created 1st Baronet Thomas, of Ynyshir, co. Glamorgan [U.K.] on 10 May 1919.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Glamorgan.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Glamorgan.1 He built and equipped the Welsh University Medical School at King Edward VII's Hospital, Cardiff.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Glamorgan in 1936.1
