     Sir Charles Thomas Hewitt Mappin, 4th Bt. was born on 7 March 1909.2 He was the son of Thomas Wilson Mappin and Violet Maud Mappin.3 He married Ruby Joy Ann Duff, daughter of Captain Gordon Duff, on 21 May 1930.1 He died on 9 November 1941 at age 32, killed in action over Germany.1,2
     He succeeded as the 4th Baronet Mappin, of Thornbury, co., York [U.K., 1886] on 8 June 1925.2 He gained the rank of Sergeant Air-Gunner.2 He fought in the Second World War.2
