     Lt.-Col. Arthur Patrick Sykes was born in 1906.1 He was the son of Major Herbert Rushton Sykes and Hon. Constance Harriet Georgina Skeffington.1 He married, firstly, Prudence Margaret Robertson, daughter of Maj.-Gen. Donald Elphinston Robertson, in 1936.1 He and Prudence Margaret Robertson were divorced in 1967.1 He married, secondly, Katharine Diana Bartlett in 1968.1 He died on 27 April 1994 at Clun, Shropshire, England.2
     Lt.-Col. Arthur Patrick Sykes usually went by his middle name of Patrick.1 He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.1 He graduated from Magdalene College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1928 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He fought in the Second World War, where he was wounded.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the King's Royal Rifle Corps.1 He was appointed Member, Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.) in 1945.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) for Shropshire.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Shropshire.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Shropshire between 1961 and 1962.1
