     Daniel Defoe was born on 26 January 1660 at Cripplegate, St. Giles, London, England.1 He was the son of James Foe and Alice Marsh.1 He married Mary Tuffley, daughter of John Tuffley and Joan Rawlins, in 1684.1 He died on 24 April 1731 at age 71.1
     He was given the name of Daniel Foe at birth.1 He wrote the book Robinson Crusoe.1
