     Sir William Compton was the son of Edmund de Compton.1 He married Werburge Brereton, daughter of Sir John Brereton and unknown daughter Berkeley.1 He died in June 1528.1
     He held the office of Keeper of the Privy Purse to King Henry VIII.1 He held the office of Chancellor of Ireland.1 He was at the Field of Cloth of Gold.1 He held the office of Usher of the Black Rod.1 He held the office of Chief Gentleman of the Bedcamber.1 He fought in the Battle of Spurs in 1513.1
