He married, firstly, Gaia Servadio.1 He married, secondly, Faith Clark.1 He and Gaia Servadio were divorced.1 He married, thirdly, Jane Martineau in 1992.1 He died on 2 May 2011 at age 81.1
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.1 He was educated at Magdalene College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.1 He was an art historian.1 He was chairman of Christie's Education between 1979 and 1988.1
