     Edward Isaac Hobhouse was born on 12 April 1804.2 He was the son of Sir Benjamin Hobhouse, 1st Bt. and Amelia Parry.3 He married Hon. Hester Charlotte Graves, daughter of Thomas North Graves, 2nd Lord Graves, Baron of Gravesend and Lady Mary Paget, on 4 January 1832.1 He died on 16 May 1854 at age 50.2
     He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Coldstream Guards.2 He was Private Secretary to his half-brother, 1st and last Baron Broughton, at the War Office, Irish Office and Board of Control.2 He was Gentleman Usher to HM Queen Victoria.2
