     Sir Humphrey Edmund de Trafford, 4th Bt. was born on 30 November 1891.2 He was the son of Sir Humphrey Francis de Trafford, 3rd Bt. and Violet Alice Maud Franklin.3 He married Hon. Cynthia Hilda Evelyn Cadogan, daughter of Henry Arthur Cadogan, Viscount Chelsea and Hon. Mildred Cecilia Harriet Sturt, on 2 October 1917.3 He died on 6 October 1971 at age 79, without male issue.2
     He was educated at Oratory School, South Kensington, London, England.2 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.2 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.2 He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Coldstream Guards.2 He was decorated with the award of the Military Cross (M.C.).2 He succeeded to the title of 4th Baronet de Trafford, of Trafford Park, Lancashire [U.K., 1841] on 10 January 1929.3 He was Senior Steward of the Jockey Club in 1936.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Hertfordshire in 1944.2 He held the office of High Sheriff of Hertfordshire in 1945.2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of hertfordshire in 1946.2 He was a racehorse owner and breeder.2
