     Sir Alexander Hope of Kerse, 1st Bt. was born on 12 December 1637 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.1 He was the son of Sir Thomas Hope, Lord Kerse and Helen Rae.1 He married Louisa Hunter on 12 November 1659 at Delft, The Netherlands.1 He died in December 1673 at Kerse, Scotland.1
     He was created 1st Baronet Hope, of Kerse on 30 May 1672.
