John Edward Tennant and Georgina Helen Kirkpatrick.1,2 He married Lady Margaret Helen Isla Marion Ogilvy, daughter of Sir David Lyulph Gore Wolseley Ogilvy, 7th Earl of Airlie and Lady Alexandra Marie Bridget Coke, on 11 July 1946.1

John Alexander Murray, 9th Earl of Dunmore was born on 3 April 1939.1 He was the son of Edward David Murray, Viscount Fincastle and Hon. Pamela Kate Hermon-Hodge.1 He married Anne Wallace, daughter of Thomas Clouston Wallace, on 8 December 1967.2 He died in 1980.2
John Alexander Murray, 9th Earl of Dunmore was educated at Eton College, Eton, Berkshire, England.1 He gained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant between 1958 and 1959 in the service of the Queen's Own cameron Highlanders.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant between 1959 and 1965 in the service of the 4th/5th Battalion.2 He succeeded to the title of 9th Earl of Dunmore [S., 1686] on 29 January 1962.1 He succeeded to the title of 9th Lord Murray of Blair, Moulin and Tillemot [S., 1686] on 29 January 1962.1 He succeeded to the title of 5th Baron Dunmore, in the Forest of Atholl, co. Perth [U.K., 1831] on 29 January 1962.1 He succeeded to the title of 9th Viscount of Fincastle [S., 1686] on 29 January 1962.1 He was PR executive for Charles Baker and Sons.2 He was Public Relations Officer for Schweppes USA.2 He was registered as a Member, Institute of Public Relations in 1968.2 On his death, his U.K. Barony became extinct.2
