     John Campbell of Whitestone was the son of Archibald Campbell and Barbara McAlister.¹ He married Flora Campbell, daughter of Duncan Campbell of Glen Carradale and Katherine MacNeill.¹ He died circa 1734.¹
     He lived at Whitestone, Cantyre.¹

     Flora Campbell was the daughter of Duncan Campbell of Glen Carradale and Katherine MacNeill.¹ She married John Campbell of Whitestone, son of Archibald Campbell and Barbara McAlister.¹

     Alexander Dunlop was the son of John Dunlop, 9th Chief of Dunlop and Lady Marion Douglas.¹ He married Ellen Cuninghame, daughter of Alexander Cuninghame, 1st Earl of Glencairn and Margaret Hepburn.¹

     Duncan Campbell, 2nd of South Hall is the son of John Campbell of Whitestone and Flora Campbell.¹ He married, firstly, Marion Campbell, daughter of John Campbell of Otter, on 18 July 1737.¹ He married, secondly, Euphan Livingstone, daughter of Sir James Livingstone of Glentirran and Dladerse, Bt., on 30 May 1752.¹
     He had two sons and five daughters by his first wife, but all died in infancy.¹

     Marion Campbell was the daughter of John Campbell of Otter.¹ She married Duncan Campbell, 2nd of South Hall, son of John Campbell of Whitestone and Flora Campbell, on 18 July 1737.¹ She died on 23 August 1749.¹

     Euphan Livingstone was the daughter of Sir James Livingstone of Glentirran and Dladerse, Bt.¹ She married Duncan Campbell, 2nd of South Hall, son of John Campbell of Whitestone and Flora Campbell, on 30 May 1752.¹ She died on 1 May 1801.¹
     From 30 May 1752, her married name became Campbell.¹

     Sir James Livingstone of Glentirran and Dladerse, Bt. gained the title of Baronet Livingstone.

     John Campbell, 3rd of South Hall was born on 6 January 1758.¹ He was the son of Duncan Campbell, 2nd of South Hall and Euphan Livingstone.¹ He married Mary Campbell, daughter of Colin Campbell of Castleton and Mary Campbell, on 11 June 1795.¹ He died on 16 February 1817 at age 59.¹
     He gained the rank of Captain in the 21st Dragoons.¹ He was Colonel of the Argyll Militia.¹
