     Her married name became Austen.1

     Sir John Austen, 2nd Bt. was born circa 1634.1 He was the son of Sir Robert Austen, 1st Bt. and Anne Muns.1 He and Rose Hale obtained a marriage license on 6 December 1661.1 He died in 1698 at Red Lion Square, London, EnglandG.1 His will (dated 27 March 1687/8) was proven (by probate) on 27 September 1699.1
     He was admitted to Gray's Inn on 23 October 1657.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Austen, of [Hall Place in] Bexley, co. Kent [E., 1660] on 30 October 1666, and 'of Stagenhoe, Herts.1' He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Rye between October 1669 and 1679.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Rye from 1689 to 1690.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Rye between 1695 and 1698.1 He held the office of Commissioner of the Customs from 1697 to 1698.1

     Rose Hale was born circa 1645.1 She was the daughter of Sir John Hale and Elizabeth Hale.1 She and Sir John Austen, 2nd Bt. obtained a marriage license on 6 December 1661.1 She died in May 1695.1 She was also reported to have died in November 1695.1 She was buried at Stagenhoe, Hertfordshire, EnglandG.1
     From 6 December 1661, her married name became Austen.1
