     He fought in the First World War between 1915 and 1918, where he was mentioned in despatches.²

     Stafford Charles Northcote was born on 22 December 1844.² He was the son of Stafford Henry Northcote and Isabella McNeill.² He married Rosa Annette Wilson, daughter of Henry Wilson, on 15 August 1871.² He died on 9 August 1903 at age 58.²

     Margaret Joan McCowan usually went by her middle name of Joan.¹ From 24 June 1922, her married name became Bowyer-Smyth.¹ She gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Women's Royal Army Corps (Territorial Army.)¹ She was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1952.¹
