     Lt.-Col. Charles Mountstuart Erskine was born on 27 August 1843.1 He was the son of George Keith Erskine and Selina Chambers.1 He married Nellie Ashburner, daughter of Maj.-Gen. William Ashburner and Mary Elizabeth Wormald, on 9 January 1875.1 He died on 25 July 1898 at age 54.1
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Bombay Staf Corps.1

Maj.-Gen. William Ashburner1

     Maj.-Gen. William Ashburner was born on 10 May 1818 at Byculla, IndiaG.2 He was the son of William Page Ashburner and Hester Maria Elliot.2 He married Mary Elizabeth Wormald.2 He died on 23 October 1888 at age 70.2
     He was commissioned in 1837 with the rank of Cornet, in the service of the Bombay Army.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in March 1840.2 He fought in the First Afghan War in 1842, where he was severely wounded.2 On 15 October 1846 he was court-martialed for casting reflections on the character of another officer, and was acquitted.2 He gained the rank of Captain in August 1850 in the 3rd Bombay Light Cavalry.2 He fought in the Anglo-Persian War in 1856.2 He fought in the Indian Mutiny in 1857.2 He gained the rank of Major in May 1866.2 He gained the rank of Colonel in January 1868.2 He retired from the military in January 1875, with the rank of Major-General.2
