     William Henry Cadman was born on 12 August 1880.1 He was the son of James Cope Cadman and Betty Keeling.2 He married Lucy Lloyd Whitworth, daughter of A. H. Whitworth.1 He died on 20 February 1960 at age 79.1
     He graduated with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.)1 He was registered as a Member, Institute of Chemical Engineers (M.I.Chem.E.)1 He gained the rank of Captain in the 1st/6th Manchester Regiment Territorial Forces, and seconded to the Royal Engineers Special Brigade.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He was awarded the MRI Silver Medallist.1 He was appointed Fellow, Chemical Society (F.C.S.)1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Institute of Chemistry (F.R.I.C.)1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Technical Force.1 He gained the rank of Major in the Home Guard.1 He was appointed Royal Scottish Academician (R.S.A.) between 1945 and 1946.1 He was appointed Member, Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.) in 1946.1
