     John Patrick Aubone Burnett, Baron Burnett was born on 19 September 1945.1 He is the son of Lt.-Col. Aubone Burnett and Joan Bolt.1 He married Elizabeth Sherwood de la Mare, daughter of Sir Arthur James de la Mare and Katherine Elizabeth Sherwood, in 1971.1
     He was educated at Ampleforth College, Ampleforth, Yorkshire, EnglandG.1 He was with the Royal Marines between 1964 and 1970.1 He was a practising solicitor in 1975.1 He was a partner with Burd Pearse between 1976 and 1997 at Okehampton, Devon, EnglandG.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Liberal Democrat) for Devon West and Torridge.1 He was created Baron Burnett, of Whitchurch in the County of Devon [U.K. Life Peer] in May 2006.1

     Patrick Sinclair, 8th Lord Sinclair was born after 1583. He was the son of James Sinclair, Master of Sinclair and Lady Isabel Leslie.2 He married Margaret Cockburn, daughter of Sir John Cockburn of Ormiston and Janet Home.1 He died from 1615 to 1617.1
     He succeeded as the 8th Lord Sinclair [S., 1449] in 1607.1 In December 1614 he was imprisoned in Edinburgh Castle for debt and other offences.1

     Sir John Cockburn of Ormiston was born after 1544.2 He was the son of Sir John Cockburn of Ormiston and Alison Sandilands.2 He married Elizabeth Bellenden, daughter of Sir John Bellenden of Auchnoul and Janet Seton.2 He married Janet Home, daughter of Alexander Home and Jean Home, after 28 July 1574.2 He died in 1623.2
     He held the office of Lord Justice Clerk.1

John Sinclair, 9th Lord Sinclair1

     John Sinclair, 9th Lord Sinclair was baptised on 29 October 1610.1 He was the son of Patrick Sinclair, 8th Lord Sinclair and Margaret Cockburn.2 He married Lady Mary Wemyss, daughter of John Wemyss, 1st Earl of Wemyss and Jean Gray, in July 1651.1 He died on 10 November 1674 at age 64, without surviving male issue.1
     He succeeded as the 9th Lord Sinclair [S., 1449] between 1615 and 1617.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Scotland] in 1641.1 In 1646 originally a Covenanter (opposed to King Charles I’s scheme of Church government in Scotland involving bishops) but supported Charles I and joined King Charles II’s expedition to England.1 He fought in the Battle of Worcester on 3 September 1651, he was captured by Cromwell’s forces and held prisoner.1 In 1659 he resigned his estates in favour of his only surviving daughter but without resignation of his peerage.1
