Oxford [England] on 28 May 1627.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Cambridgeshire from 1628 to 1629.¹ On 15 February 1631/32 he inherited the estate of Brightwell, Oxfordshire from his uncle, Dudley Carleton, 1st Viscount Dorchester.¹ He held the office of Gentleman of the Privy Chamber in 1633.¹ He held the office of Sheriff of Cambridgeshire from 1636 to 1637.¹

     George Carleton was the son of Anthony Carleton.² He married Elizabeth Brockett, daughter of Sir John Brocket and Helen Lytton. He died on 8 March 1627/28.¹
     He lived at Holcombe, Oxfordshire, England^G.¹

     Elizabeth Brockett is the daughter of Sir John Brocket and Helen Lytton.^1,2 She married George Carleton, son of Anthony Carleton.
     Her married name became Carleton.

     Elizabeth Moore is the daughter of Roger Moore.¹ She married, secondly, Sir John Brocket.¹ She married, firstly, Gabriel Fowler.¹
     Her married name became Fowler.¹ Her married name became Brocket.¹

     Anthony Carleton is the son of John Carleton and Joyce Welbeck.²

     Anne Hoghton was the daughter of Sir Richard Hoghton, 1st Bt. and Catharine Gerard.¹ She married, firstly, Sir John Cotton before 1620.¹ She married, secondly, Sir John Carleton, 1st Bt., son of George Carleton and Elizabeth Brockett, in 1625.¹ She died on 17 May 1671.¹ She was buried at Lanwade, Cambridgeshire, England^G.¹ She died intestate and her estate was administered to her son, Sir John Cotton, Bt. on 5 June 1671.¹
     From before 1625, her married name became Cotton.¹ From 1625, her married name became Carleton.¹

     Sir John Cotton married, thirdly, Anne Hoghton, daughter of Sir Richard Hoghton, 1st Bt. and Catharine Gerard, before 1620.¹ He died on 5 March 1620.²
