     Margaret Dalzell was born on 31 January 1753 at Glenae, Dumfries-shire, Scotland.2 She was the daughter of Alexander Dalzell and Elizabeth Jackson.1 A contract for the marriage of Margaret Dalzell and Sir Robert Grierson of Lag, 5th Bt. was signed on 18 October 1777 at Dumfries-shire, ScotlandG.1,2 She died on 24 July 1819 at age 66 at Rock Hall, Collin, Dumfries-shire, ScotlandG.3
     From 18 October 1777, her married name became Grierson.1

Sir Robert Grierson of Lag, 5th Bt.1

     Sir Robert Grierson of Lag, 5th Bt. was born in 1738 at Dalkeith, Midlothian, Scotland.2,3,4 He was the son of Sir Gilbert Grierson of Lag, 4th Bt. and Elizabeth Maitland.2 A contract for the marriage of Sir Robert Grierson of Lag, 5th Bt. and Margaret Dalzell was signed on 18 October 1777 at Dumfries-shire, ScotlandG.1,4 He died on 8 August 1839 at Rock Hall, Lag, Dumfries-shire, ScotlandG.2 He was buried on 15 August 1839 at Mouswald Church, Mouswald, Dumfries-shire, ScotlandG.2 His will was proven (by probate) in July 1842.2
     He was commissioned with the rank of Ensign, in the service of the 6th Foot.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant on 10 October 1761 in the 11th Foot.2 He retired from the military in 1763.2 He succeeded as the 5th Baronet Grierson, of Lag, co. Dumfries [N.S., 1685] on 7 February 1766.2 He has an extensive biographical entry in the Gentlemans Magazine.5
