     Margaret Douglas was born circa 1460.2 She was the daughter of William Douglas, 3rd of Drumlanrig and Margaret Carlyle.3,2 She married John Cathcart, 2nd Lord Cathcart, son of Alan Cathcart, Master of Cathcart, before August 1499.1
     From before August 1499, her married name became Cathcart.

     Alan Cathcart, Master of Cathcart was the son of John Cathcart, 2nd Lord Cathcart and Margaret Kennedy.2 He married Agnes Lyle, daughter of Robert Lyle, 2nd Lord Lyle and Margaret Houston, before August 1507.1 He died on 9 September 1513 at Flodden Field, Northumberland, EnglandG, killed in action.1
     He was styled as Master of Cathcart circa 1497.1 He fought in the Battle of Flodden on 9 September 1513.1

     Agnes Lyle is the daughter of Robert Lyle, 2nd Lord Lyle and Margaret Houston.2,3 She married, firstly, Alan Cathcart, Master of Cathcart, son of John Cathcart, 2nd Lord Cathcart and Margaret Kennedy, before August 1507.1 She married, secondly, John Maxwell of Stanelie after 1513.4
     From before August 1507, her married name became Cathcart. From after 1513, her married name became Maxwell.4

     Alan Cathcart, 3rd Lord Cathcart was the son of Alan Cathcart, Master of Cathcart and Agnes Lyle.2 He married Helen Sempill, daughter of William Sempill, 2nd Lord Sempill and Margaret Montgomerie.1 He died on 10 September 1547 at Pinkie, ScotlandG, killed in action.1
     He succeeded as the 3rd Lord Cathcart [S., c. 1452] in December 1535.1 He fought in the Battle of Pinkie on 10 September 1547.1

     Alan Cathcart, 4th Lord Cathcart was born circa 1537.1 He was the son of Alan Cathcart, 3rd Lord Cathcart and Helen Sempill.2 He married, firstly, Margaret Wallace, daughter of John Wallace, 10th of Craigie, 15th of Riccarton and Janet Logan.1 He married, secondly, Florence McDougall.1 He married, thirdly, Catherine Macdowall, daughter of Uchtred Macdowall, 10th of Garthland and Margaret Kennedy.3 He died in December 1618.1
     He succeeded as the 4th Lord Cathcart [S., c. 1452] on 10 September 1547.1 He fought in the Battle of Langside in 1568, at the side of King James VI.4 He held the office of Master of the Household [Scotland] in 1579.4
