     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Yorkshire Hussars Yeomanry Cavalry.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Lancashire.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Herefordshire.1

     Major Digby Coddington Cayley was born on 15 July 1895.1 He was the son of Digby Leonard Arthur Cayley and Beatrice Coddington.2 He married Beatrice Elizabeth Eleanora Campbell-Renton, daughter of Robert Charles Campbell-Renton of Lamberton and Mordington, on 6 February 1924.1 He died on 2 February 1965 at age 69.1
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He did his National Service as a Major in the King's Own Scottish Borderers and Machine Gun Corps.1 He fought in the First World War, in Gallipoli and France.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Lancashire.1
