     Major Digby Coddington Cayley was born on 15 July 1895.¹ He was the son of Digby Leonard Arthur Cayley and Beatrice Coddington.² He married Beatrice Elizabeth Eleanora Campbell-Renton, daughter of Robert Charles Campbell-Renton of Lamberton and Mordington, on 6 February 1924.¹ He died on 2 February 1965 at age 69.¹
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England^G.¹ He did his National Service as a Major in the King's Own Scottish Borderers and Machine Gun Corps.¹ He fought in the First World War, in Gallipoli and France.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Lancashire.¹

     Robert Charles Campbell-Renton of Lamberton and Mordington was the son of Major Charles Frederick Campbell-Renton of Lamberton and Mordington and Lillian Stirling.² He died on 15 September 1948 at Mordington House, Mordington, Berwickshire, Scotland^G.³ He was buried at Mordington Churchyard, Mordington, Berwickshire, Scotland^G.³

     Beatrice Elizabeth Eleanora Campbell-Renton is the daughter of Robert Charles Campbell-Renton of Lamberton and Mordington.² She married Major Digby Coddington Cayley, son of Digby Leonard Arthur Cayley and Beatrice Coddington, on 6 February 1924.¹
     From 6 February 1924, her married name became Cayley.
