     Ada Coote was born in 1846.2 She was the daughter of Lt.-Col. Charles James Coote and Anne Stuart.2 She married Hon. Henry Leslie Pepys, son of Charles Christopher Pepys, 1st Earl of Cottenham and Caroline Elizabeth Wingfield, on 17 November 1868.1 She died on 21 April 1936.1
     From 17 November 1868, her married name became Pepys.

     Lt.-Col. Arthur Guy Leslie Pepys was born on 24 August 1875.1 He was the son of Hon. Henry Leslie Pepys and Ada Coote.2 He married Olive Grace Starkey, daughter of John Frederick Starkey and Mary Margaret Snow, on 6 March 1915.1 He died on 9 April 1953 at age 77.1
     He fought in the Matabeleland Expedition in 1896.1 He fought in the Mashonaland Expedition in 1897.1 He received his bar mitzvah; Military Cross (M.C.)1 He fought in the Boer War between 1900 and 1902.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Essex Regiment.1 He fought in the First World War between 1914 and 1916, where he was wounded and mentioned in despatches twice.1

     He was educated at Wellington College, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1939 in the Essex Regiment.1 He fought in the Second World War between 1939 and 1940, where he was mentioned in despatches.1
