     He was educated at Messingham Church of England School, Lincolnshire, England^G.¹ He was a builder and contractor.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Lincolnshire, Brigg Division between 1929 and 1931.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Lincolnshire, Brigg Division between 1935 and 1945.¹ He was created 1st Baron Quibell, of Scunthorpe, co. Lincoln [U.K.] on 7 July 1945.¹ He held the office of Mayor of Scunthorpe in 1953.¹ On his death, his title became extinct.¹
