     Sir John Serocold Paget Mellor, 2nd Bt. was born on 6 July 1893.2 He was the son of Sir John Paget Mellor, 1st Bt. and Mabel Pearce-Serocold.2 He married, firstly, Rachel Margaret Cook, daughter of Sir Herbert Frederick Cook, 3rd Bt. and Hon. Mary Hood, on 24 May 1922.1 He and Rachel Margaret Cook were divorced in 1937.1 He married, secondly, Raie Ada Moses, daughter of Samuel Moses, on 23 December 1937.2 He died on 15 July 1986 at age 93.3
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.2 He fought in the First World War, in Mesopotamia, where he was wounded twice and taken as a POW at Kut.2 He gained the rank of Captain in the Somerset Light Infantry.2 He graduated from New College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1919 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)2 He was admitted to Inner Temple in 1920 entitled to practise as a barrister-at-law.2 He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Mellor, of Culmhead, co. Somerset [U.K., 1924] on 4 February 1929.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Tamworth between 1935 and 1945.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Sutton Coldfield between 1945 and 1955.2 He was chairman of Prudential Assurance Company in 1965.2
