     John David Fetherstonhaugh was born on 20 February 1850.1 He was the son of Richard Steele Fetherstonhaugh and Rosetta Roche.1 He married Margaret Oakes, daughter of Maj.-Gen. I. G. A. Oakes and Frances Lennox, on 1 September 1891.1 He died on 2 May 1936 at age 86.1
     He was educated at Rugby School, Rugby, Warwickshire, EnglandG.1 He fought in the North-West Frontier between 1897 and 1898.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of County Westmeath.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for County Westmeath.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of County Westmeath in 1905.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders.1 He lived at Rockview House, Killucan, County Westmeath, IrelandG.1

     Margaret Oakes is the daughter of Maj.-Gen. I. G. A. Oakes and Frances Lennox.1 She married John David Fetherstonhaugh, son of Richard Steele Fetherstonhaugh and Rosetta Roche, on 1 September 1891.1
     She was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.)1 From 1 September 1891, her married name became Fetherstonhaugh.1
