     Lt.-Col. Michael Clare Garsia was born on 1 November 1838 at East Street, Kingston, JamaicaG.2 He was the son of Aaron Garsia and Sarah Anne Melhado.1,2 He married Jane Margaret Anderson, daughter of James Anderson and Margaret Carew, on 15 December 1868.1 He died on 20 April 1903 at age 64.1
     He was given the name of Michael Melhado Garsia at birth.2 He held the office of Inspector-General of Military Prisions.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.)1
