     Robert Fergusson Franks was born on 22 March 1807.² He was the son of Matthew Franks and Mary Fergusson.² He married Henrietta Bushe, daughter of Rt. Hon. Charles Kendal Bushe, on 24 February 1834.² He died on 13 January 1888 at age 80.²

     Laura Shelford was the daughter of Thomas Shelford.¹ She married Captain Robert Norman Bland, son of Maj.-Gen. Edward Loftus Bland and Emma Frances Franks, on 18 September 1895.¹ She died on 17 March 1950.¹
     From 18 September 1895, her married name became Bland.¹

     Thomas Shelford lived at Hythe, Kent, England^G.¹ He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.)¹ He lived at Singapore, China^G.¹

     Major Thomas Edward Bland was born on 24 February 1903.¹ He was the son of Captain Robert Norman Bland and Laura Shelford.¹ He died on 1 August 1944 at age 41, unmarried.¹
     He gained the rank of Major in the King's African Rifles.¹ He lived at Colquhouns, Penshurst, Kent, England^G.¹

     He graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine (M.B.) and Bachelor of Surgery (Ch.B.)¹ He gained the rank of Major in the Royal Army Medical Corps.¹ He was appointed Member, Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.)¹ As of 1976, Major Patrick Murdock Kirkwood lived at Colquhouns, Penshurst, Kent, England^G.¹
