Desmond Slavin Bowlby Roberts1

     Desmond Slavin Bowlby Roberts was born on 17 May 1921. He was the son of George Alexander Roberts and Alice May Bowlby.1 He died on 26 September 1944 at age 23 at The Netherlands, killed in action.1
     He was educated at Lancing College, Lancing, Sussex, England. He fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant on 23 April 1943 in the 2nd Battalion, Royal Warwickshire Regiment.

     Maria Rimington was baptised on 4 July 1838 at Bradfield, Yorkshire, England.2 She was the daughter of James Rimington and Sarah Ward.1,2 She married Edward Salvin Bowlby, son of Reverend Edward Bowlby and Hannah Hodgson, on 1 August 1861.1 She died on 6 January 1879 at age 40.1
     From 1 August 1861, her married name became Bowlby.1
