     William Ramsay, 6th Earl of Dalhousie was baptised on 2 December 1660 at Dundee, Angus, ScotlandG.1 He was the son of Captain Hon. John Ramsay and unknown wife Sinclair.1 He married, secondly, Janet Martin.1 He married, firstly, Jean Ross, daughter of William Ross, 10th Lord Ross of Halkhead and Margaret Forrester, circa 1700.1 He died on 8 December 1739 at age 79.1
     He succeeded as the 6th Earl of Dalhousie, co. Midlothian [S., 1633] in October 1710.1 He succeeded as the 6th Lord Ramsay of Carrington [S., 1633] in October 1710.1 He succeeded as the 7th Lord Ramsay of Dalhousie [S., 1619] in October 1710.1

     Jean Ross was the daughter of William Ross, 10th Lord Ross of Halkhead and Margaret Forrester.1 She married William Ramsay, 6th Earl of Dalhousie, son of Captain Hon. John Ramsay and unknown wife Sinclair, circa 1700.1
     From circa 1700, her married name became Ramsay.1 After her marriage, Jean Ross was styled as Countess of Dalhousie in October 1710.

     William Ross, 10th Lord Ross of Halkhead was the son of James Ross, 4th Lord Ross of Halkhead and Jean Sempill.2 He married, firstly, Elizabeth Houston, daughter of Sir Patrick Houston of that Ilk.3 He married, secondly, Margaret Forrester before 8 August 1635.1 He died in 1656.1
     He lived at Muriston, ScotlandG.1 He gained the title of 10th Lord Ross of Halkhead.

     William Maule, 1st Earl of Panmure was born in 1700.1 He was the son of Hon. Harry Maule of Kellie and Lady Mary Fleming.2 He died on 1 January 1782.3
     He was educated at Scots College, Paris, France.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Forfarshire between 1735 and 1787.1 He was created 1st Earl of Panmure, of Forth [Ireland] on 6 April 1743. He was Colonel of the 25th Regiment of Foot between 1747 and 1752.1 He held the office of Colonel between 1752 and 1770, 21st Regiment of Foot.1 He was Colonel of the 2nd Dragoon Regiment between 1770 and 1782.1 He gained the rank of General in April 1770.1 On his death, his titles became extinct.3
