He was educated at Cheltenham College, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, EnglandG.1 He fought in the Waziristan Campaign between 1921 and 1923, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He gained the rank of Major in the Indian Army.1 He fought in the Second World War, when he was invalided.1 He was registered as a Member, Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (M.R.C.V.S.)1
