     Admiral Sir James Stirling was born in January 1791.2 He is the son of Andrew Stirling of Drumpellier and Anne Dorothea Stirling.2 He married Ellen Mangles, daughter of James Mangles and Mary Hughes, on 3 September 1823.2 He died on 22 April 1865 at age 74.2
     He held the office of Governor of Western Australia between 1829 and 1838.2 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.)2
