     William Houstoun was born on 23 February 1811.1 He was the son of General Sir William Houstoun of Calderhall, 1st Bt. and Lady Jane Maitland.1 He married Matilda Jesse, daughter of E. Jesse, in 1837.1 He died on 23 October 1872 at age 61.1

     Susan Emily Paton was the daughter of Colonel John Paton.2 She married General Sir Robert Henry Cunliffe, 4th Bt., son of Sir Foster Cunliffe, 3rd Bt. and Harriet Kinloch, on 2 April 1825.1 She died on 11 November 1856.1
     From 2 April 1825, her married name became Cunliffe.1

     Matilda Jesse was the daughter of E. Jesse.1 She married Reverend L. Fraser before 1837.1 She married, secondly, William Houstoun, son of General Sir William Houstoun of Calderhall, 1st Bt. and Lady Jane Maitland, in 1837.1 She died in 1892.1
     From before 1837, her married name became Fraser.1 From 1837, her married name became Houstoun.1

Charles Watkin Cunliffe1

     Charles Watkin Cunliffe was born on 6 April 1833.1 He was the son of General Sir Robert Henry Cunliffe, 4th Bt. and Susan Emily Paton.2 He died in June 1857 at age 24 at Byram Ghat, India, killed during the Indian Mutiny.1
     He was with the Bengal Civil Service.1

Foster John Cunliffe1

     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Bengal Artillery.1 He fought in the Indian Mutiny.
