     James Traill Shearer was born on 31 July 1823 at Rosegill, Caithness, ScotlandG.1,2 He was the son of Traill Shearer and Christian Simpson.1 He married Eliza Graham in 1843.1 He died on 13 September 1906 at age 83 at Montreal, Quebec, Canada.1,2
     He was founder of Shearer Brown, lumber company circa 1860.1 He emigrated to Monteal, Quebec, CanadaG.1
