     Sir Mathew Herbert, 1st and last Bt. was the son of Francis Herbert and Abigail Garton.1 He married Mary Lucy, daughter of Sir Thomas Lucy and Alicia Spencer.2 He died circa 27 October 1668.1 He was buried from 30 October 1668 to 30 October 1669.1
     He was created 1st Baronet Herbert, of Bromfield, co. Shropshire [England] on 18 December 1660.1 On his death his baronetcy became extinct.1
